Winter outdoor areas
If you're anything like me the backyard pergola gets neglected in the winter time. Buyers love the outdoor entertaining areas, so its important that they can imagine themselves entertaining under that pergola, cooking the BBQ and having fun with family and friends.
Click here for some great ideas
- Generally the pavers get a build up of moss and dirt. Get the hose and scrubbing brush out and give them a good clean with a cleaning solution
- Do the same with the outdoor furniture and the BBQ
- Discard the dead hanging plants and dreary potted ones and replace with some vibrant new colourful plants or flowers.
- For some 'WOW' pot some colourful flowers and put them on the table
- Add some colourful cushions to the existing seating

For some instant colour and fragrance
For some instant colour and fragrance place some fresh herbs by the backdoor or on the window sill in the kitchen. Instant WOW not to mention the fresh aroma and the fresh ingredients at your finger tips. If you do not have any herbs in the garden use anything green out of the garden. It is amazing at what a jug of greenery can do to liven up a dull bench.

I dare you to do something different this month?
I am going to share with you items and ideas that can enhance your property when you list it for sale.

Outdoors in the cooler weather
Generally we tend to neglect the exterior of our homes and the outdoors living spaces in the colder months.
- Make certain that the gardens and lawns are manicured and weed free.
- Trim back all those dead branches.
- If your garden is lacking colour add some colourful plants.
- If you have a swimming pool keep it pristine, a dirty pool is very off putting to a potential buyer.
- Clean the windows and get rid of the cobwebs.
- For inspections add some bright cushions and throw rugs to the outdoor entertaining area. Instant Wow.
- Remember your buyer is judging your home from the outside. First impressions really do count

Suitable arrangements
Create a styled vignette on an otherwise empty sideboard or coffee table by grouping ceramics, glassware, geometric shapes or ornaments in threes or fives. Be sure each grouping of objects has similar or complementary colours and different heights and shapes for the most aesthetically pleasing result.

Play with scale
Play with scale
Play with scale in your home by contrasting low-line furniture with tall indoor plants or lamps, as seen in both of these rooms, or using a rug to make a small space feel larger. Really looking at the scale of your furniture (is it all the same height? Are there any standout pieces?) is a great way to add drama or interest to a room. Another way of doing this is using a statement artwork to draw the eye to the centre of a room. Try Artfinder for affordable original artworks that can be shipped direct to your door.

Look luxe without the huge price tag
Whether you’re looking to update your home according to the season, or want the space to feel a little more polished, there are a few simple changes you can make to your interior to achieve a luxe look without a big outlay.
Elevating your interior style isn’t about spending a lot of money on decor or buying large pieces of furniture. It’s about thoughtfully editing your personal collection of treasures and memories into a curated display that speaks to who you are, your personality and your style.
Bathroom review
One of the hardest (and most expensive) rooms to update can be the bathroom. However, sprucing up this space needn’t be costly. Take note of what vanity top, windowsill and shelving space you might have spare in the room, and think about what items you own that might fit into the space and make it feel a little more ‘done’ and more your style. This can be anything from a few fab plants to a carefully considered selection of candles, ornaments and shells that the kids may have collected from the beach.

Tips from Nat Winter
What are your hot tips for styling a home?
An inviting home, that flows well can be created by keeping a similar theme running through the house from inside to out, downstairs to upstairs, bathroom to living room. A trick of the trade is to use books to stack items on top, or trays to cluster items together on a coffee table, dining table, sideboard, side table or bedside. An easy styling tip is to display three objects at different heights.
How can people create a beautiful look on a budget?
If I’m working on a budget, I find a hero item that may (or may not) be more expensive and I mix with inexpensive items. To do this, try using my tips above with small items like vases, candles and trays.
A few quick tricks I use are…
Recover an old sofa or outdoor set using Ikea linen curtainsWait for the mid and end of year sales at your favourite storesJoin sites like Temple & Webster for great deals on furniture and homewares Shop at Kmart, Target and Adair’s on sale Have a big clean out of the old and sell it on Gumtree, before buying something second-hand to replace it.
